Healthy Toenails
Nov 16, 2020As a massage therapist for over 20 years, I have worked on many feet. And I know that some of my clients suffer from toenail fungus, a stubborn condition that causes tough, yellow nails. Over the years, I have seen friends, family, and clients struggle with this issue, because it is rather persistent, and takes a long time to treat, no matter what method a person uses. It can be treated internally, but the medicine is bad for the liver so most people I know don't go for that course.
Me as a college kid in 1993 at the foot of a statue at the Hermitage Museum (The Winter Palace) in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Recently, a friend has found great success with a combination of essential oils applied to the toenails regularly in a carrier oil, and when I heard, I just had to share, because I don't want you to have to keep struggling with this if you have been.
Here's what you do: Thoroughly clean and dry the toes first. Then you apply a mixture of equal amounts of three essential oils: tea tree, thyme, and myrrh, in a carrier oil. My friend uses castor oil which is thick so it kinda sticks to the toes nicely. You apply it two times per day.
You can look online to see suggestions for diluting essential oils in carrier oils properly. Please know that many essential oils are too strong to apply neat, and carrier oils help dilute them to an intensity that will not hurt your skin.
I've learned that when fighting fungus in the body, dietary choices can help too, like decreasing sugar intake or decreasing alcohol consumed.
Good luck with the essential oils. My friend tried many things over a couple years, and this is the most effective thing so far. It still takes a while, so be patient, but I believe you'll soon see visible results, like my friend did.
